Heart of a Warrior Scholarship
The mission of Heart of a Warrior: to recognize and reward Arapahoe swimmers / divers that exhibit and foster respect, good character, leadership, teamwork, and mentorship, both in and out of the pool and in the community.
What is the Heart of a Warrior Scholarship?
The Heart of a Warrior (HOW) Scholarship was created to encourage / acknowledge a swimmer / diver who demonstrates respect, great character, leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and mentorship to others in and out of the pool through always holding themselves to the highest standards and morals. We encourage all student-athletes to build a strong foundation of integrity and to demonstrate their values as role models for our warriors to grow into outstanding ladies and gentlemen.
Goal:
We believe in the value that an iron sharpens irons. Our goal is to encourage our young warriors to truly represent the honor and courage it takes to be a warrior. We believe this scholarship can be a new opportunity for all of our warriors to express themselves and grow beyond academics. Our goal for HOW recipients and the individuals that pursue HOW is to represent themselves to the highest regard and then go out and better their / our communities for generations to come.
What we are looking for in the HOW recipients:
- Proven Leadership
- Must be a Senior
- Must not currently be on academic probation
- High Character, Values and Morals
- Honor
- Teamwork
- Mentorship to Younger Swimmers on both Varsity and JV
- Demonstrates Sportsmanship at all Swim Meets, Team Building activities and before/during/after Practices
- Encourages and Models Good Behavior and Respect to all teammates, coaches and parents
- Target of 100% Attendance or as communicated to all practices, meets, and team building events
- A statement from the athlete applying for HOW stating:
- “What it means to be a Warrior” to that Swimmer/Diver personally
- How he has demonstrated leadership as an athlete and student to the team, coaches and parents
- How he has contributed to or has improved the culture of their AHS team
