Arapahoe Boys Swim & Dive Team Newsletter - Volume #9
Week of April 15th

Hello Swim & Dive Athletes & Families,

We are coming up on our last home meet this week, which is also Senior Night where we recognize each of our senior swimmers, managers, with their parents. Please sign up to volunteer at this meet to allow the senior parents to enjoy the evening with their swimmers.

Tech Suits:

  • Please buy your son a tech suit. They have become the norm with shave/taper meets. With respect to swimming, textile technology has dramatically improved over the last decade. Tech suits are shown to reduce drag by as much as 38% when compared to a lycra training suit. The materials are smoother than shaved skin and often times, water impermeable. The seams of the suit are bonded rather than stitched, which further reduces drag. Additionally, they are meant to be extremely tight. Researchers believe the compression provided by the suit may reduce fatigue by decreasing muscle vibration when under stress.

Three local retailers are below. If you find a better deal online, that’s perfectly fine, but please go to one of these stores and get a good fit before making a purchase. There are three or four major brands, and their sizing doesn’t necessarily correspond to your son’s training suit. Out of Breath SportsSwim n’ ThingsMI Sports

Senior Night

    • April 18th is Senior Night during the Mullen swim meet where we recognize each senior on the team. Senior parents, you will want to attend this night as you will walk out into the pool area with your swimmer.

Pennants

    • The swim pennants should have made it home by now. You will need to assemble the pennants and return by May 9th. These will be hung up at the end-of-year banquet. To return, you can have your swimmer give to Ty Ohlgren or drop off at the Ohlgren home: 6465 S. High St. Centennial on the bench by the front door.

Volunteer Needs

    • End of Year Banquet: Mark your calendars for Monday, May 13th at 6pm and sign up to help make this the BEST celebration for our swimmers!
    • Shadows for next season: We are coming up to the end of the season and we need a few helpers to shadow for next season. Please reach out to Laura Smith if you can shadow as Volunteer Coordinator or End of Season Banquet Coordinator.

Swim & Dive at After Prom: We need two volunteers to work the swim & dive team slot for After Prom on May 4th. Please let us know if you are interested!
