Arapahoe Boys Swim & Dive Team Newsletter - Volume #10
Week of April 22nd
Hello Swim & Dive Athletes & Families,
Senior Night was a smashing success and we loved the opportunity to celebrate them. We are also highlighting our seniors on Instagram if you haven’t seen that. The end of the season is here—be sure to read below for important information. If your son needs a tech suit, please do that as soon as possible. We also need volunteers & RSVPs for our End of Year Banquet on May 13th—links are below. As always, please let us know if you have any questions.

Tech Suits:
- Please buy your son a tech suit. They have become the norm with shave/taper meets. With respect to swimming, textile technology has dramatically improved over the last decade. Tech suits are shown to reduce drag by as much as 38% when compared to a lycra training suit. The materials are smoother than shaved skin and often times, water impermeable. The seams of the suit are bonded rather than stitched, which further reduces drag. Additionally, they are meant to be extremely tight. Researchers believe the compression provided by the suit may reduce fatigue by decreasing muscle vibration when under stress.
Three local retailers are below. If you find a better deal online, that’s perfectly fine, but please go to one of these stores and get a good fit before making a purchase. There are three or four major brands, and their sizing doesn’t necessarily correspond to your son’s training suit. Out of Breath Sports, Swim n’ Things, MI Sports
Pennants
- The swim pennants should have made it home by now. You will need to assemble the pennants and return by May 9th. These will be hung up at the end-of-year banquet. To return, you can have your swimmer give to Ty Ohlgren or drop off at the Ohlgren home: 6465 S. High St. Centennial on the bench by the front door.
Volunteer Needs
- Shadows for next season: We are coming up to the end of the season and we need a few helpers to shadow for next season. Please reach out to Laura Smith if you can shadow as Volunteer Coordinator or End of Season Banquet Coordinator.
