Greetings AWSDT!

We have a busy week ahead, followed by exams! Please be sure you are staying on top of your assignments and are in a good place in your classes when exams begin! 

Coaches Invite is Saturday, December 20.  Meet Information is attached. Coaches Invite is an elite level qualifier meet - meaning it has qualifying times that must be met to enter any given event. The attached meet information contains qual times, meet start times, and other relevant information. The entry sign-up sheet will be available at varsity practice.

This week at practice we will be discussing sportsmanship. I love this five-minute video because it keeps the sportsmanship concept simple - which it really is! And this article addresses swim specific sportsmanship ideas!

This Tuesday we host Smoky Hill, a meet that was originally scheduled to be hosted by SHHS. AHS swimming & diving warmups will begin at 3:50, and the diving portion of the meet will begin at 5:00. Swimming will begin at approximately 5:45. After the meet on Tuesday, we will be diligent about warming down and cleaning up together as a team after the meet. The varsity line up will be available by Monday night.  Tuesday night is also the choir's winter Holiday Concert.  As a result, we will be missing a number of varsity swimmers which will create more competitive opportunities for our J.V. swimmers.

This Thursday we host a J.V. Meet against Ft. Collins High School (who is coached by an AHS alumni!).  AHS swimming & diving warmups will begin at 3:50, and the diving portion of the meet will begin at 5:00. Swimming will begin at approximately 5:45.  As a result of the meet, Varsity practice on Thursday will be in the morning from 6:15 - 7:45am.

Next Saturday, December 13 is the Arapahoe Relay Meet. Meet information is attached. We will have a sign-up sheet available on deck for the varsity swimmers. More info on the relay meet will be distributed throughout the week!

As part of our agreement with Arena, swimmers can purchase "tech suits" at a 20% discount. Tech suits can get expensive and, in my experience, can make great holiday gifts! If you would like to discuss if a tech suit is right for your swimmer, feel free to reach out to me!
